Quiet Your Mind

Quiet your mind,
Close your eyes,
Turn off your senses,
Just clear the skies.

The moment is here,
It won’t be for long,
Cherish your time,
It soon will be gone.

Jump in the puddle,
Run through the field,
Laugh like a child,
Your fate is not sealed.

Walk in the woods,
And play with your friends,
They will be there,
On them you’ll depend.

Quiet your mind,
Close your eyes,
Turn off your senses,
Just clear the skies.

The moment is here,
It won’t be for long,
Cherish your time,
It soon will be gone.

You go to school,
Friends, classes and sports,
It’s all way too much,
Your life cries out and contorts.

Deadlines and homework,
At you, they’re all hurled,
They laugh and just say,
"Yeah, this is the world."

Pressures and sacrifices,
They whirl in your head,
You say to yourself,
"I wish I was dead."

But that doesn’t last,
For all that they say,
The real world is worse,
Getting worse by the day.

Quiet your mind,
Close your eyes,
Turn off your senses,
Just clear the skies.

The moment is here,
It won’t be for long,
Cherish your time,
It soon will be gone.

You get your first job,
And say "Yes, I’ve made it!"
You live for 5 years,
And find that you hate it.

In hope of true happiness,
You skip from the town,
"I’ve got my life to live!"
Things start to look down...

Quiet your mind,
Close your eyes,
Turn off your senses,
Just clear the skies.

The moment is here,
It won’t be for long,
Cherish your time,
It soon will be gone.

You try once again,
Start a new life,
Now have two kids,
And a beautiful wife.

The house is a mess,
Toys on the floor,
The unfairness of life,
Knocks on your door.

It couldn’t be seen,
Until it’s too late,
Your time has come,
Sealed is your fate.

You look on your life,
To see what you’ve done,
You think you succeeded,
You think you had fun.

All this is true,
You did have a blast,
But who did you help,
And will your influence last?

I’m not here to judge,
But music is gone,
Were you a player,
Or were you a pawn?

"I’ll think about it later,
"Just not today,
"I’ll find the time,
"To love and to pray."

That’s what’s so funny,
The thing we call time,
Is it worth yours,
To write a poem that rhymes?

Look at the world,
Then look at your life,
Did you stand up tall,
Or cower in fright?

Quiet your mind,
Close your eyes,
Turn off your senses,
Just clear the skies.

The moment was here,
It wasn’t for long,
Did you cherish your time?
Because now it is gone...
